How to Get Your Equipment Fixed
- You can fill out an Electronics Work Request Form online, follow the directions on the screen. Just click here: Online Work Request.
- Submit a Work Request for each piece of broken equipment or service you need. Be sure to fill out the Work Request form completely, including your account numbers, department name and phone number, a legible authorized signature, and a description of the work to be done.
- If you have manuals with your equipment, please bring them in with the equipment. This saves you time and money.
- Submit your Work Request before bringing in your equipment. We have limited space to store items, so we will call you when we are ready to work on your order and you can deliver your equipment then.
How do I get parts and supplies? We carry batteries, fuses, and we keep a large variety of parts in stock. If you want to purchase small quantities of an item, simply submit a completed work request and we can get them for you.
How can I obtain an estimate? We will be happy to provide you with an estimate for an upgrade or a construction project. However, you should remember that estimates are not quotes. As for repairs, estimating the unknown is difficult, therefore we can't give estimates for repair. In general, it is never a good idea to spend over one-half the replacement cost on a repair. If you want to set a spending limit lower than one-half the cost of a new unit, just let us know. Please bear in mind that a set limit doesn't mean that you will be billed the full limit amount. We bill you only according to time, labor, and parts. A limit is only to let our technicians know what you are willing to spend to repair an item and that they should not go over that amount for repair.
How long will It take? Every work order is assigned a work order number and a priority from one to nine (one being the highest priority). Orders are sequenced first by the priority number, and second, by the date that the Work Request is received. The priority number is based on the type of repair.
- Priority 1 Critical experiments; Hazardous conditions
- Priority 2 Classroom equipment (essential for class); Wheelchair repair; One-hour job; Warranty expiration; Instrument Shop; PC repair; Printer repair
- Priority 3 Classroom equipment (not essential for class); Repairs and projects (funded research); PC installations and upgrades
- Priority 4 Repairs and projects (non-funded research); All other work
- Priority 5-9 Parts orders
What Causes Delays?
Many things may slow the repair of your equipment:
- Waiting for delivery of parts
- No factory support
- Incomplete Work Request form
- Our workload
- Inability to contact you
How will I know my work has been completed? After your job is finished, we will call or leave a message for you. We ask that you please pick up your equipment as soon as possible, as we have a small holding area. We can deliver completed equipment, but it is less expensive if you arrange for pickup.
