Service and Repair: We service equipment for the faculty and staff only; we cannot accept students' requests for service. We repair personal computers (including Macintosh), printers, cables, power supplies, terminals, centrifuges, pH meters, spectrophotometers, dryers, ovens, timers, volt meters, oscilloscopes, test equipment, strip chart recorders, shakers, hot plates, CRTs, illuminators, and other electronic equipment. It is not cost effective for us to repair clocks, typewriters, coffee machines, or calculators for you. Also, on occasion it may not be cost effective to repair fax machines, the cost to repair a fax is $76 per hour. As a rule of thumb it is never a good idea to spend over one-half the replacement cost on a repair.
Parts and Supplies:
We carry a variety of computer and printer parts. If we don't have an item in stock, we can usually get it for you in a couple of days. Call for current pricing and availability. We also have a wide variety of fuses, batteries, electrical parts, and wire. Just give us a call if you want to know if we carry an item or if we can order it for you.
Due to Central Stores no longer carrying batteries, the Electronics Shop is stocking AA, AAA, C, D, and 9V batteries. We also have a small supply of hearing aid batteries and some misc. batteries. We are able to maintain a reasonable price for batteries, because we replenish our stock on a monthly basis.
| Battery Size | AAA | AA | C | D | 9V |
| Cost | .51 each | .48 each | .89 each | 1.04 each | 1.62 each |
Construction: We are able to complete your projects
from the initial conceptual stage through design, schematics, part ordering, assembly,
debugging, modification, and documentation. However, accurate estimation of costs for
labor and parts is difficult.
Advice: It is often better to call us first, before bringing down a work request. We may be able to solve your problem over the phone, saving you time and money.
